Learning Outcomes Learners should be able to: Describe the duties of employers and employee as specified in t sections 6, 9, 12, and 13 of the Safety, Health and welfare at Work Act, 1989
Outline the role of the Health and Safety Authority
Describe the role of communication and training in the promotion and provision of health and safety in the workplace
Identify the elements and functions of the safety statement
Promote safe and healthy working practices in relation to:
Identify risk factors in relation to safety, to include:
List the factors which contribute to safe and healthy working environments
Outline the principles and procedures of good housekeeping in the workplace
Use safe lifting and handling techniques where appropriate
Explain the following in relation to accidents and dangerous occurrences:
Explain the following fire-related issues:
Outline the specific hazards when working with equipment, to include:
Outline how personal protective and respiratory equipment is used in the workplace
Outline the procedures for use and disposal of hazardous materials and waste in the workplace e.g. MSDS
Describe the control and associated risks of the following in the workplace;
Interpret a range of safety signs in the workplace Identify factors which contribute to good health Outline the risk factors in relation to health, to include:
